I just am compelled to report on this continuing fiasco once again.

It may have been a year or so but, once again BOSCH in a Box Alternators 
are crap!

This one failed at 10k miles, I've reported on two previous failures and 
their respective mileages.  All below 35k as I recall.

This really puts a damper on zero-clocking these older MB's where the 
replacement is not anywhere near as reliable as the original with 150 k 
or better in every case.

Lifetime warranty means nothing when this kind of failure is often 
followed with a tow-truck, down-time on your travel and/or job, whatever 
and really makes you think before doing any kind of regional travel.  I 
typically run from Boston to DC and parts in between in the 300SE's.  
This time, I saw the crap indicators all lit up in my driveway so not so 
bad but, I'm unpacking the Benz and renting a car as a result.

A real turn-off where all of my set-ups are lost to me in a rental for 
sound, laptop, pda, sat and nav not to mention the comfort and ride.

Just another Bosch in a Box story.  Too bad there is no alternative 
because I've had it with Bosch's bs remans.
