[W126 Coupe] Seat Belt Presenter Problem

Hi Jeff,
Glad to hear you are still driving that 500euro sec. I had a worn
switch cover and intermittent operation on my SEC and simply replaced
the entire switch where I wanted the button face to be new. I would
replace the fuse first (all fuses if you have not already done so) and
if the problem persists, check the electrical connector and fiber on the
back are firmly attached. Worse case, the switch can be removed,
cleaned and reinstalled. The cover comes off with a pick to either side
of the plastic hinge. You can also locate a used switch at a wreckers
yard from any early 126 chassis as I did from an 85 500SEL.
Sounds like the motor linkage and rails are allowing for smooth
operation so, leave well enough alone. It does not hurt to do the MB
grease (ask Jonathan) on the rails as per the cd manual every year at
the same time you blow out the drains.
