Hello Alejandro,

Your email subject includes the words 'petrol smell' so it is possible
you have a fuel leak at either the fuel pumps in the rear or at the fuel
distributor or fuel lines up on the intake manifold. I would have the
car inspected by someone who can quickly diagnose the problem where the
car sits if at all possible. Do not drive the car as it may be a
serious leak. If you see a puddle of fuel on the ground at the rear of
the car then it's the pumps, filter or seals that are in need of
service. If no liquid petrol is present in the rear, I would open the
hood, remove the air cleaner housing exposing the intake manifold and
look for any signs of petrol such as wet or shiny surfaces in and around
this area. Follow the two petrol lines from the intake down the inside
front fender and look for leakage under this area as well.

A more subtle petrol smell that fills the car interior when driving is
typically the petrol filler cap and possibly a bad EHA seal or the
actual EHA unit needing replacement and located on the backside of the
fuel distributor.

If by some chance you are referring to an exhaust leak, then an
inspection of the exhaust system should turn up the source of the leak
and I would expect the exhaust noise would also be louder which you do
not mention.

Good luck.

Dick
