Hi Markud,
Sorry to hear about your troubles.
Did the indicator lights work properly before you made any changes to them?
I don't recall whether the 560 SEL project car was a driver before you started working on it.
That the rear lights flash at twice the normal rate after you disconnected the front indicator lights is normal. I guess you could say that you've eliminated the rear indicator lights as the source of the problem.
The front indicator light have two-filament bulbs and serve as both corner lights and indicator lights. The rear indicator lights have a single filament as there is a separate bulb for the corner lights at the rear. It sounds like the front lights are confused about the difference between their corner- and indicator light duties.Regards, Axel J. Wulff610-731-5453 Cellular610-572-4611 Home

Hi gang,
I have a question about turn signals. I'm finishing up my "project car", a 1989 560SEL I just finished doing an engine and transmission swap on. I went to take it for a drive today, and when I turned the lights on, the turn signal "symbols" on the dash BOTH lit up green and stayed that way (not blinking, just solid on). Went outside, and all 4 turn signals were ON, not blinking, but on as well. Then I tried the hazard switch, and everything blinked as they should. I disconnected the two front turn signals as I had just put clear corners and orange bulbs in (although I reused the connectors since the new ones didn't match the wiring/plugs), and of course now the bulb out indicator is on in the dash and when I use the turn signals, just the rears work really fast, since the fronts are "out".
Where should I start looking to see what might be wrong?
