Wow Alex, Thank you very much! A gain of 100hp is huge for a 560SEC. I look forward to your further postings and thank you for sharing it with us. I went looking for a ready-built bolt-on system but I can't find one.

A personal question to you Alex. Are you a masochist? Because a V12 Jaguar is a nightmare to own.  I had a 1976 XJ12C. I fell for it because it was a beautiful coupe and the proportions were spot on like a SEC. But it was a beautiful looking girl that hid a mission which was to make my mechanic laugh all the way to the bank. I paid $18K for it and had it for about two years and drove it  500 miles at a cost of $10,000. I ended up donating it to the City of Hope. I know I'm on their black list and won't help me when I get cancer so I need to stay healthy.

Hi Shin,

I posted some pics, and
description ~ 2 months ago (and a brief video clip) thanks to ____. I’m
sorry, my laptop drive became corrupted and I had to reinstall the operating
system, but also lost all my old emails. Does anyone have the link?

I sound like a broken
record as I have promised to post the plans and info on how-to do this
yourself. It just seems every week-end there is a new fire (not to do with the
SEC of course). Actually, I just bought my wife a Jaguar XJS V12 convertible
that I’ve been restoring.

I put in a Vortec S-1
trim. Currently I drive it off the A/C pulley. I have an alternate drive set-up
in mind, just have not had the time to work on it.

But look for postings
around December to wet your appetite. It takes some work, but is well worth
it…. And yes, I will post the additional info… when? The good news
is the set-up has run in my car for 13 months now, without a problem.

Thank You,

Hello Alexander. I am seriously
considering supercharging my SEC.  What brand did you use? Please post
your setup.

Thanks,

I am in Coram, just south of Port Jefferson (north shore) - we go out of

Cedar Beach, only a 19' Rinker (with a home built 325Hp V8 baby!) some

call it the 19' jet-ski, my wife just calls it "....slow down!!!!" - but

we have a blast wake-boarding. I'm still trying to find the "Old Lady"

selling her E55 ANG for some good conversation, but even they are

stuck-up around here!

Wow this topic brought up a lot of comments. I would dare suggest a

Mustang which has always been a top performer at the $/performance

ratio. I've owned more than anyone would care to read about. One day I'd

love to own a 65SL or SLR, or Viper (argh!) ... but the real world being

what it is, and being a Mechanical Engineer, I can appreciate the

technology, just never earn the $ to own it. Oh well... hence the Super

Charger on the SEC ... and yes, I know, I promised the plans, and still

will post them. The good news is I've logged 15K+ miles on the build

with absolutely no problems.

Seems like the consensus of the replies is the Jeep is good, but the

Subaru is better. I hate to sell out, but I have to agree.

BTW: I did sell out my manhood and owned a Mini-van for < 24hrs.

Unfortunately we lost the twins the same day I picked up the car. Fait?

I don't know. But I have to admit, I almost liked it?!?

Be good Ladys & Gents

PS. Are there any get-togethers in the North-East? I'd like to put faces

on the emails.

Thank You,

A Long Island boy.  I have family in Comack, and my uncle used to keep

his boat up at Montauk Point.  We have quite a few of the same "never

see off road" SUVs here in Colorado.  It is kind of like my other

favorite, the little old lady driving the E55 AMG 45 in the right lane.

With all the off road trials and camping here, I wouldn't mind having a

Land Rover Defender to screw around in.

As far as sliding the car around.  I would do that in the SEC, the SEL,

the work truck, whatever.  I grew up having to chase everybody on diirt

back roads.  They had old trucks with 350s and 454s.  I had a 1980 Mazda

626.  The only way I could keep up was by out driving them around the

corners.

I and a few people I know have Jeep Grand Cherokee. I need mine to tow

my boat in the summer. They drive excellent, great motor, great interior

& very comfortable, are great in snow, except, um, the tranny goes to

crap by 50K miles. So if you don't mind spending $3K every 50K miles to

replace the tranny, and 12 MPG if you are lucky - it's a great car.

On the foreign side, Subaru has been making excellent 4WD cars and

wagons for decades - extremely reliable, relatively affordable, and get

good milage (25-30+ is normal).

But I have to be honest, I don't understand our generation's need for

SUVs. I live on Long Island NY, the yuppie capital of the world as far

as I am concerned. Everyone has to have the biggest SUV, go drive to the

diner and to the mall. The most off-road they see is a puddle in the

road, and most swerve around those as well. The only reason I have it is

for my boat.

I have 2 kids, and we drove them around from birth, first in my Mustang,

then in a Cougar. Yes, it is a little inconvenient, but with the price

of gas, and I don't care what SUV you buy (even 4 or 6 cyl), you are not

going to get more than 20 MPG if you are lucky - it is simply a matter

of aerodynamics - they have a large profile, and that is what you are

pushing through the wind. Personally I feel than unless you are a

doctor, police, firefighter, or other critical - on demand person, or

you live in a real remote location, most roads are cleared within hours

of a snow-fall. Actually I enjoy sliding my SEC around on a snowy road -

I think it makes you a better driver as you learn how to get yourself

out of trouble. Most people in SUVs have no clue and think the car is

invincible until they are upside down in a snow bank, and then feel it's

the car maker's fault.

So my long-winded answer is I've had good experience with Subaru wagon.

You may want to look at 4wd wagons for the best compromise in MPG &

utility. Hope it helps.

Thank You,

Now that we are expecting our first little rug rat, it is time to get my

wife a new car.  We were thinking a small SUV, being in Colorado AWD can

have its benefits.  I was wondering if anybody has any opinions, likes

or dislikes about small SUV models or other ideas.  Since my 1 drivable

SEC is in the garage being torn apart, and my other SEC had the ass end

of it ripped out, those are out.  Plus it is a pain in the ass trying to

get a baby seat in the back!

Thanks,

David
