[W126 Coupe] 560 SEC question

I was just wondering why anyone would add to one of the most complex painting processes in the business...isn't the factory jog good enough? I know that I am impressed every time I lay a coat of wax down on my "Nina", and reveal that wonderful depth and shine. And as for the chrome wheels, well, I love the chrome rims on my SEC but I also love the Aluminium rims on my SL.

Andy;

To the best of my knowledge the SEC (or any other MB model for that matter) was never supplied from factory with pin striping. This appears to be a common American decorative "improvement" installed by the dealers. Ditto the chrome wheels.

Pin stripes on new MB's were very rarely applied by dealers in Canada and, I am told, never seen in Europe.

It's a matter of taste obviously, but perhaps you should check with Mercedes Benz further if you are concerned.
