[W126 Coupe] To Ebay or not? UK '89 560SEC

I've sold two cars on eBay and they went well.
Make sure you have a realistic minimum for the car and a decent amount for
each bid (maybe $50 per bid increase). When I did the cars, I put them on
eBay so that they ended on a weekend, at a reasonable time for the target
area. In your case, before 10PM GMT. EBay is set up on Pacific Standard Time
(PST) so make sure you understand the difference between what you want for
an ending time and how to get eBay to do it. The best bidding is generally
in the last two minutes and you don't want that to be 3AM in your area.
I copied the Disclaimer portion of other folks car ads to make sure I
properly stated "as-is, where it is". Also, If you have any thoughts about
helping the buyer with the shipping, let them know up front. Helping can be
just making yourself available with reasonable notice, or providing several
shipping company names. Make sure they realize that while you're willing to
help, they will have to pay for all shipping.
Also, see if there is a place nearby that can do the Pre-Purchase Inspection
for the potential buyer and let them know that it can be done, they will
have to pay for it before it's actually performed. Generally, someone would
contact me and I would have them provide name and credit card info to the
company doing the inspection (I never get the CC number). I also was
available for a local to come by (just like we'd do - find someone in the
town that can come by and put an eyeball on the car for the out-of-towner).
Make sure you add a photo of the car in the magazine and perhaps a link to
the article, if possible. Take "pretty" pictures of the SEC, not in your
driveway but in a local park or in the high-rent portion of the downtown
area.
Others on the site will chime in to give you more/better suggestions.
Later,
Mike R.
