[W126 Coupe] Help

As a belated entry in the snow tire discussion, I bought a set of 4 studded Pirelli Winter "Carving" tires from Tire Rack last winter because they were the only ones could get studded, and I have always been a fan of studded tires (sorry to all you environmentalists, but in the "old days", I slid into a lot of deer out here and I like to stay in as much control as I can on ice!)
Although from March until November, my 1990 560SEC wears its AMG wide wheels and tires, the snows are mounted on a set of stock wheels.
Even though the car is lowered in front a bit, they work as intended, and I find that I can (and have) been able to start from a stop, on packed snow, headed up a 30 degree slope with no slippage, and their performance overall has been fine.
They ARE a bit noisy, (from both inside and from outside the car) but not overwhelmingly so, and I'll take the traction over the decibel level all day long.
I haven't had time to gauge the tread wear, but I put between 7,500 and 10,000 miles on last Winter and they still look new. AND it allows me to be confident to drive this car all year, which is a big incentive for me. I love driving it too much to put it to sleep for the season.

I like Continental ExtremeContact all seasons for all year use in a non-dedicated snow tire, and also Bridgestone KDW-S if they still make that is very good in wet/cold weather and decent in warm too.

Now that winter is approaching (or already here), can I get some recommendations for tires? Mine skid the minute it starts raining. I'm not looking for snow tires... just some 4 season tires that won't slip when the pavement is wet or snowy. I realize that nothing is secure on ice, so I'm not asking for miracles. Just some good traction.
Thanks.
John
