I also like the Kumho Ecsta's. Good tire and the SEL slides predictably on them.
I used to have lots of fun in the winter with two turbo-diesels (300D & 300SD). Something about the fact that 1/2" of accelerator pedal movement sometimes doubled the HP to the rear wheels because the turbo's decided to participate at that time. I finally fixed all my winter problems - sold both diesels and got gas Benzes, then moved 700 miles due south. It was the latter that did the most good!

Try a set Kumho ecsta ASX. I am very happy with the performance in the wet and dry, they are quiet and seem to last . I have less than 5K on the set I put on the SEC but I have a set on my C5 with >20K, the rears are ~50%, the fronts ~75%. no problems and no suprises as I approact the limit of my skills.
