[W126 Coupe] FW: Gear Shift Lever Removal

I have a question for the group related to this issue. I purchased a  almost 
new burl wood shift console surround and was told it would fit 86-91  SEC. I 
did not realize at the time that the shift selector opening is  larger on the 
90-91 therefore will not fit my 89 model. Is a larger shift plate  available to 
accommodate  this console and if so where can I get one? Is it  a good time 
to install a 1st gear shift switch? Any help is appreciated.
