what year and model? Not all needed a code. See here for your model/year and it will tell you if a code is needed:

There's a great idea and yes just punch the 4-digit code in when prompted and you are good to go. If you make a mistake it sets a timer and you'll have to wait it out before punching the code in yet again.
Good luck,

say i go to the same yard and the car is still there. i get the vin, give the vin to mb dealer. then what happens? what's the deal with the code. am i going to punch into the radio so it will work?

i took one out of a junk yard car. what do i do in that case?

Dick Spellman <dick.spellman at gmail.com> wrote: sort of Gary. You need to run a length of solid wire down either side to release the clips if it's the original Becker. Also, you'll need the code if you pull it and plan on using it again. Your VIN taken to the MB dealer will get you the code.

...after you take all the stuff off and the radio is exposed is it just those two silver clips that have to be pushed down and the radio just slides out?
