[W126 Coupe] OT: 2007, 2008, or 2009 S Class 4matic or GL320CDI

My mechanic services the cars of six or seven self-employed chauffeurs, all of whom would have automatically bought a blue/black S class every three or four years until recently, now every single one of them drives a diesel A8.
        Changing the subject slightly, I took my car to the drag strip on Saturday for the first time and had a whale of a time winning three times and losing twice, I`m glad to be able to report that I beat a newish BMW 330, because as we all know these cars are driven by hooks, crooks, vagabonds, sex mechanics and various other undesirables, whereas Mercs are driven by thoroughly charming, personable, perspicatious chaps :-), for people who know about these things my best times were :
  1/8 ET  9.2245
  MPH    79.21
  1/4 ET  14.1171
  MPH    101.35       Any good ?

     How are the new S Class sedans with the 4matic all wheel drive systems.  I know the last generation S Class sedans had poor durability with the all wheel drive setup.  Would I be better off just buying an A8?  Any thoughts from the forum would be most welcome.  I also happen to love the GL SUV with the diesel engine.   I would love to hear thoughts on both.
