Mike,
I definately like the idea that you have. It assures the long life
of the car given the available of parts for those kind of motors.
You also can't beat the simplicity! I still have the battle wounds
of having MB mechanics trying to find the problem with my
car. It took a retired(!!) man to find it and it was the fuel distributor.
Runs like a banchee now.
However just filled the take because the price of gas dropped to
EUR 1.40 a liter and until the gas ran down in the tank, every curve
I could smell gas in the car. Never noticed it before because I haven't
filled it up in over a year.
I have to guess its the rubber connector between the filler pipe
and the tank itself. Its the only thing that high on the tank.
