I’ve recently purchased my first Mercedes Benz; a very nice 1983 SEC 500 from a friend. The car is in outstanding condition cosmetically. The original owner has spend consider money in maintaining the engine over the years.  It has about 200K miles and runs only fair in my opinion. I’d like to boost the performance and reliability by replacing out the engine and was thinking of a newer Corvette motor as a viable replacement engine. Any advice/recommendations on engine replacement options would very welcome.
