[W126 Coupe] Interior swap

Ditto!

The interior is comprised of a lot of overlapping parts, so order of removal
is PARAMOUNT. Also this little clips are often impossible to align, so take
a picture of where they are. I would recommend putting any trim screws
right back in where you took them out from once you remove a piece, because
there are a lot of different sizes and easy to mix up. Also, if you drop
one, there are lots of places for it to roll around, and you won't find it
until the whole car is put back together and you are on a long road
trip.*rattle rattle rattle ting ting ting rattle silent...rattle.*

I have not done a full interior swap, but after numerous projects, I've been
pretty much all over my car.

First piece of advice would be to arm yourself with lots of patience. This
is not a weekend project. Your car will be off the road for at least a few
weeks, depending on how much time you can dedicate to the project.

Second piece of advice is to take lots of pictures during he stripping
process. Good pictures of how the parts looked when on the car are
invaluable during the reinstallation part. You may think you'll remember how
things should fit, but after a few weeks I'll guarantee you that there will
be stuff you have no idea how to put together.

Then gets lots of gallon-size freezer bags to keep the parts you're taking
out together and properly marked. You may not need the parts anymore, but
proprietary fasteners are always useful to have around. Speaking of
fasteners, gets lots of replacement hardware because plastic parts will
break due to age, heat and wear & tear.

During the installation process, be prepared to do particular parts several
times. You'll put something in and later find that another thing needs to go
in before you can put that part in, or you'll find that it needs adjustment,
or whatever. So no use of glues or anything that will be hard to undo later
on.

Where to start?
During the stripping process, take detailed notes on the order which you
removed things. You'll have to start with the finishing items before you'll
get access to other stuff. Re-installation will be in reverse order.

Good luck.
