Can anyone tell the pros and cons to having 16 rims and tires or replacing them with 18 rims and tires.

Thanks Kelly

Only personal opinion but: 16s are comfy whereas 18s are`nt
All the best, John Poole `91 560 running 16 x 8s in winter and 8.5 front with 10 x rear 17s in summer.
All I can add is that with 18 rims you'll probqbly have 40 aspect tires giving a very short side wall, not much flex in that short a side wall. If the car has been lowered and given that short a sidewall it will probabably have a harsh ride since the side wall is not absorbing the bumps. If you like a harsh ride all is dandy.

In my case with my 560 SEC with H&R springs, HD Bilstein shocks up front and running 245 x 45 x 17 tires the ride is, shall we say, "firm". The plus side is that I have about 9 inches wide of tire contact patch area per tire and the handling and turn in is really great. At 80 MPH a quarter inch of steering wheel movement, measured at the rim, causes an immediate direction change/correction/whatever.

I let a MD dealership mech. drive my car and he didn't like it one bit, way to stiff for him, he wants the soft cushy ride of a sedan ;-((>
