[W126 Coupe] W126 Coupe-tie rod hitting wheel

I find H&R spacers 5mm for $35 for two so that $70 plus 20 lug bolts @ $3
ea that $80 so for $115.00 + shipping I should be good to go. I do not have
any other wheels these are the wheels on the car when I got it. My idea was
to put on 17” rims on it at some point but you see I just bought new tires
$500+ Yokohama AVS ES100- 225/55ZR16. New wheels and tires would cost me
$1600+ - or just new 16” rim about $700 . My car has the stock suspension
on it - I plan on H&R springs front & back and bilstein shocks in the front
but funds are low. I bought my car for $2,400.00 and have put into it
$8,978.00 so far total $11,378.00 cannot turn back now. But on the bright
side I have driven it about a mile - so that only $11,378.00 a mile.
Thank you all for the help yous guys are the best
Kelly

Here's some suggestions.....think long and hard about what your ultimate
goal is. If in the long run you want 17" wheels, start looking. Put the
15" stock wheels back on in the meantime. You are going to waste time and
money shuffling things around and trying to find what you need to make what
you have work, if you are going to throw it all away and use 17's anyway.
You can find H&R spacers on the web, and then will need to get matching lug
bolts, longer than stock by the thickness of the spacers. But, if all 4
current wheels are the same offset (ET), then putting spacers only on the
front may look a little weird, especially if the spacer is thick enough to
make it noticeable. Now you are doing all 4 corners, more $$$. For
example, a "set" of new spacers will run roughly $100, plus log bolts a
couple dollars each, so figure $150 per axle, or $300 all around. Might be
better off putting that towards the right wheels you want? Just a thought.
I would search the archives as well. You don't want to push the wheels out
"too far" or it will create other issues, like rubbing the tires on the
fenders. Our cars liked offsets between 11 and 25, what are these wheels?
It is the ET number stamped on the back of the wheels. Higher than 25,
you'll have rubbing issues inside the wheels. Too low, rubbing on the
outside of the tires. But its not just ET to factor in, but wheel width as
well (6.5, 7, 7.5, 8, 9, etc). Again, what size are yours?
Hope some of this helps. For example, I have 16X8 ET24 wheels on one of my
SELs. I put 10mm spacers on the rear (because I had them, otherwise may
have bought 15's) to make it ET14 in the rear. I have 16X8 ET11 all around
on another SEL. I have 18X8 ET31, 18X9 ET35 with 20mm spacers on my SEC,
and its lowered. There's another factor that weighs in to the equation - is
your car stock suspension or lowered?

Ok, with the pictures it make sense.
1. Get rid of the lead weights that are on the rim next to the tire. The
balance shop can and will have to use the "stick-on" weights on the inside
of the rim.
2. The tie-rod end looks like it rubbed on the inside lip of the rim. Could
be that the new tie-rod ends are just that little bit deeper out of the
steering arm to touch the rim. Get the wheel bearings checked to make sure
that there isn't any free play that is letting the wheel move around,
causing a turn to push the rim into the tie-rod end.
You should have around 1/4" of space between the rim and the tie-rod end so
road junk/gravel doesn't get caught in the gap. You'll probably need some
5mm hubcentric spacers to move the wheels out enough. Make sure you find
hubcentric spacers. You only need the fronts, but it won't hurt to put them
on all four corners.
All I found on Ebay was 10mm spacers, but this will show you what you're
looking for.

Send away - let's see what's happening here.
Are the tie-rod ends hitting the weights or the rim itself?

I would love to send you the photos if I may. The end of the tie rod
assembly is hitting. New bearing where put in also today and missing two
lug bolts on each wheel maybe the wobble if there is any is because of that?
And yes there are wheel weights on the inside and out of the wheel.

This doesn't sound right. The tie-rod ends are the closest thing to the
wheel and that position is controlled by the steering arm position. It
wouldn't have changed from old to new tie-rods. I'm guessing that they put
the wheel weights on the edge of the rim next to the tire, not stick-ons on
the inside flat portion of the rim and that's what is hitting. It also
doesn't make any sense that turning a corner would change the position
either - are the wheel bearings set to the correct pre-load position? Loose
wheel bearings might let the wheel wobble on the axle, therefore in relation
to the steering arm with the tie-rod end.
What exactly is hitting the tie-rod end?

I have a problem (#563) -my 560 SEC has 16in. eight hole 92 style rim on it
and when the tie rods where replaced today (the old ones where bent from
towing) the tie rod ends hit the wheel when you turn. If I had 17in rims it
would work however I just bought new tires and I am all most out of money is
there any way to make this wheel work?. Also I am missing two lug bolt on
each wheel and cannot find the right ones any ideas
I have photos but too big to send. If anyone would like to see them just
e-mail me and I will send (HYPERLINK
