Bruce,

If you find one of the three guys who really want that car, he will get
$120K

The next twelve serious buyers will give him $65K - $80K

To find the above fifteen people is the hardest part. (BTW, you're going by
it the right way to list in several different areas online)

The next few hundred car nuts will try to steal it for $40K ( If he gets
sick of listening to crap and watching tire kickers he may actually part
with it for that price after a few months of pure torture (from the people
described below))

The rest of the neanderthalian vagabonds will try to convince this master
collector that this car is worth no more than say $6500.00 as it is
'modified' and not 'original' because your 'sticker on the door' is silver
and not aluminum. Also they have never seen flares like that on a gangster
mobile, so some rich guy must have had it welded on. They'll take it off
your hands they'll say and put some furs on the dash and hang a monster die
on the rear view mirror while they cut a hole into the rear seat to try and
install a $27 bazooka subwoofer. All this will be told to you with a glisten
in the eye..

Good Luck.

The more homework you do, the more your chances for superior success :-)

Hein

Subject: [W126 Coupe] Anyone looking for the finest 1990 560SEC authenticAMG
DOHC widebody in the world?

A friend of mine is going to sell his widebody. This is arguably the best
and most authentic widebody in the world today. He is a serious collector of
rare European cars, but loves the vintage AMG cars the most.

It is 199 charcoal over black, 35K miles (~58K KMs), and in spectacular
collector-quality, show-winning mint condition cosmetically and
mechanically. I can vouch for the owner, having bought his 1988 560SEC AMG
6.0 SOHC with 85K miles in impeccable condition. He tells me this car runs
rings around the '88 in terms of mechanical and cosmetic condition.

This person scoured the earth for the best widebody, looking at cars in
Europe, USA, Canada, and Asia. He got this car at Garage Current in Japan.
We're talking no subtle rivet marks on the widebody flares, flawless paint,
flawless interior, engine you can eat off of, no leaks, nothing. It is the
M117 6.0 DOHC, no leaks, and full power. The interior has all the correct
speedo, Recaro C's, extra wood, steering wheel, etc from AMG. Exterior is
full monochrome, 3-piece staggered correct wheels, suspension, headers,
bodykit, exhaust, etc.

In addition, it is one of approximately 25 AMG SEC 6.0 DOHC widebodies built
by the AMG factory in Germany when new, with the ultra-rare AMG engraved
VIN# build plate on the doorjamb. This car is the real deal. He then brought
it into the country in an enclosed container, and had it made legal by a
Registered Importer. No expense spared, best hi-flow emissions gear so as
not to lose power, etc etc. It's fully legal, angry-fast, and immaculate.

I am sure he has upwards of $80K invested between ~$65K purchase price,
transport, customs/duty, conversion, etc. This car might be a real
$90K-$100K car. I am sure there is not one better anywhere on earth outside
of an MB Museum. There are a few very nice ones in Japan, and they sell for
around $60K with low miles in excellent condition, and then assume another
$10K in importation/conversion costs assuming the RI knows their stuff. And
those are not built as new by AMG, but assembled in Japan after the car was
purchased, without the AMG doorjamb engraved plate. And none of them is in
the condition this car is in.

What do you guys think? Is $100K off the charts crazy? Are there people that
would want to own something like this and recognize how expensive they are
in this condition even today? What's the consensus of value? I know he'd
like $100K, but I'd like $10,000,000 to show up in my bank account. I do
think it's a $70K+ car however, even with gas approaching $4 per gallon. :)

Sorry, no pics yet. But soon.
