You make it sound like a sledge hammer was as harmless as a toothbrush or sth. Mind you; you could get a person, or even worse, your 126 Coupe crushed flat with a wrong choice of one of those!...:)

  This Kelly Frink is right.  You get suckered in a bad deal on eBay, try to fix it, if it doesn't work then leave it alone.  You don't know who this seller is and maybe you don't want to.
   
  Members should appreciate being notified.  I had looked at this guy a couple of weeks ago because he was selling re-manuafactured (or new, it was unclear) GIRLING [style] front calipers "Buy Now" for $99. (pre-'86 SEC's had Girling floating calipers) I thought, OK, that's a pretty good price.  The last price I had seen was about $200. each exchange.  I looked again and the $99 was for the PAIR, and no core charge.  Sometimes a deal is just a little bit too good, right?
   
  I looked closer at the picture... one caliper has what appears to be "GARLING" on the casting, the other, nothing.  Chinese knock-off's?  I don't know.  So I looked further and this guy has calipers for everything for $99/pr.  Dozens of 'em.  I had asked shipping cost to Canada, and he replied "sure, I'll give it a try", but he'd need another $30.
   
  Would I "give it a try"?  If I was buying a sledge hammer, and suspected that this lump of pig-iron was from China, I might take the chance.  But brakes?  Hey, somebody's life is at risk here.
