Jorge;
The dash pieces of wood are not only real wood but for the SEC are burled wood. Had this not been the case, the wood from a sedan would do. Moreover, being real wood, most have faded to some degree and thus matching becomes a problem.
So unless your wood piece is actually broken up, try to repair it. If it has just separated from the backing you can easily glue it back in place. The wood backing is held by five screws. Open the glovebox, the two right hand ones are wood screws, the three others hold the glovebox lock in place (as well as the wood trim). With that piece off you can carefully glue the wood piece clamping it onto the backing.

Folks,
I'm searching for a replacement piece of simulated wood trim, which lays horizontally along the glove box lid, for my '83 380SEC. The original piece seems to have separated at one end. I appreciate any suggestions/leads. Many thanks.
Regards
Jorge Barrera
