Very well put, Dick.
I came close to going in town today for the parade (and The Papelbon Jig)
but I got ambushed at work.

Hi Matt:
I agree that anyone living anywhere on the planet with something off
topic that has inspired a large population of people tethered to a
geographic region such as New England or even just a city population
like Boston, Massachusetts, USA with the news of say the 2007 World
Series pennant having been won by the Boston Red Sox should explain
this further and in great detail. So, for those that are unfamiliar
with baseball, here goes. They have these teams of guys from around the
planet that try and hit a ball thrown in a variety of ways at speeds
generally in excess of 90+MPH (145 kph).
It is a big deal here in the U.S. when your favorite baseball, football,
basketball or hockey team (lesser known is soccer) wins the ultimate
prize and in this case the Boston Red Sox won the 2007 World Series. A
positive event that leaves all folks associated with the team (fans) in
a state of euphoria and general up beat psyche for a prolonged period of
time. In this case, until next year when the series repeats itself. In
2004 Boston fans enjoyed their teams first world series win in 86 years
and this was repeated here again in 2007. Baseball being a favorite
American past time shared by 10's of millions of fans..
So Matt, thanks for mentioning this fun and exciting event with folks on
this section of the planet and even in other countries like Japan,
jumping for joy that the Boston Red Sox won the 2007 World Series
pennant. Folks in Japan enjoyed watching a new pitcher to the Red Sox,
fondly called DiceK pitch a phenomenal game plus drive in two runs in
the playoffs this past week. So, there is this sense that other
countries around the world have some knowledge of baseball's existence.
I've received numerous emails from business associates in Kyoto, Japan;
London, England and even down-under in Brisbane, Australia with a kind
word on the Red Sox winning the 2007 World Series.
I think it's worth the time and pen (keyboard) to say I am personally
inspired and enjoyed many of the games and a beer or two. I should also
mention that Boston has an Irish heritage and the band, Drop Kick
Murphy's continues to play the theme song for the Boston Red Sox.
Matt hope to see and hear from you again in the future. Please don't
wait until the next time the Red Sox win a world series pennant and it's
fine to cover topics that are not necessarily directly related to SEC's
I should think.
Regards,
Dick
in Boston where by the way, The Boston Red Sox have won the 2007 World
Series Pennant and the Irish jig is being played out everywhere you turn.
