[W126 Coupe] Alarm system

I need advise!
My 1987 560 SEC has an older Clifford alarm system and I think this system has been build in the late eighties. This system is a keyless system and still works.
An older guy at an alarm and audio shop demonstrated me with a scanning devise, that he is able to unlock my alarm system.
He also told me, that you can buy these type of scanners at radio shack stores.
I was at that store, because one of my LED door indicators need to be replaced.
Thinking, that these SEC cars are harder to find, I am afraid it might become a subject for thieves.
Do you think I should replace the alarm system?
And what alarm system do you recommend? And at what cost?
