Subject: [W126 Coupe] rear sway bar links

 

Hi guys,

 

Can someone point me to how to replace the rear sway bar/stabilizer links?
I looked through the 126 CDs and no explicit section for that.  I see the
obvious connection at the top of the link to the sway bar with the nut to
remove and take off there.  But on the bottom, it seems to connect somehow
to the hub/wheel housing and I can't tell how?  Is it just screwed in there
with the threads so after taking the top off you unscrew it at the bottom?
Or, is there a nut hidden somewhere I can't get to which needs to come off -
meaning the whole hub has to come apart?  I can't image its that difficult.

 

Any tips on doing this so nothing gets stripped in the process - like
prelubing the connections or using special tools, etc?

eh?) and the one guy I just talked to said they could try ordering directly
from the factory, but I thought it can't be this hard, can it?

Mercedes may have them but Bosch does not, Bosch only sells HR9DC.

  Well now I'm confused.  I called the local dealer, who says they have the
H9DC0's in stock, which replaced the original H8DC0's, and they are about
$3/apiece.  I thought people were saying that Bosch wasn't making the
non-resistor plugs anymore and that's why we had to look for ones like the
NGK?  But at more than double the price....

  I think when I get my antenna grommets at the dealer this weekend I'll
look at the plugs they set aside to make sure they don't have HR9 printed on
them....

Hi Markus;

As Ii suggested a while back...get the plugs directly from the dealer.  
They work and they are spec.  They have the only supply of those plugs, 
so maybe buy an extra set.
