I removed and trashed the original, then put an Eclipse unit in there. Turns out that the shop that sold me the Eclipse had an adapter that allowed me to merely plug the Eclipse into the MB wiring. Done in ten minutes.
I've since run 12-gauge zip cord to each speaker and use the balancing circuits of the Eclipse to control speakers, but that is another story and took many hours of work to get the wiring run.
Unless you're going to put the SEC into a concours d'elegance, nobody cares if the "right" radio is in there. Too many radios available now that are MUCH more technologically advanced than a 20-year old cassette playing German radio. YMMV.

I am looking to change the radio in my 1989 560 sec. The original radio is still in place (non-functional) and the previous owner put a radio in the center counsel. I would like to stay with the same company (as the orginal) and I wondered what all of you in this wonderful club did for tunes.....
