Then you are back to your original question, it seems:  How to remove  
the light fixture.  It seems most likely that if it's not the switch,  
then it is the wiring at either the switch end or the light fixture  
end.  So, that's probably your next move.  Sorry, but I don't have an  
answer.  :  (
