Steve - I have to agree with you. I was shocked at what I ended up paying
for my SEC. After looking for 5 years and prepared to go as high as $20k I
finally found one that would pass the MB dealership pre-sale inspection.

I almost didn't take the time to go see it because it was priced less than
half of what I was prepared to pay for it. I figured it had to have problems
at that low price. Turns out it was the best one I looked at in 5 years. The
MB mechanic that did the inspection has the same year SEC and he said mine
was in better condition that his and he offered to buy it on the spot. No
thanks.

I read quite a bit of email here talking about how great the SEC's are, and
I agree.  What troubles me is that those interested in the SEC model won't
pay what the cars are worth when looking to buy one! Maybe it's supply and
demand.

I haven't put a great deal of effort into selling my 1989 560 SEC, but the
few calls and emails I get are from those that want it for way below value.
I've offered my car that has lived its life in California for a little over
$5,000 US.  Which I feel is very reasonable.

I've reconditioned most of the normal wear and tear parts to include Timing
chains, cap / rotor / plugs & wires, belts & hoses, new radiator, rear main
seal, trans seals, flex joints, all new AC system, New Tires and on and on.


Anyway, before I part out or donate a good car to charity, I'm going to
throw it back to this list and auto trader one more time.  As Cal
Worthington would say 
Yours for Forty Nine Ninety Five!!!
