Dick I had a heck of a time finding out what MB called the  color on my car. 
The color code is 512 and the data sheet for my car lists it as "Almondine 
Red". The dictionary says Almandine is a garnet red, also a city in Asia. 
The interior color is listed as "Cream".

Seems there were a couple or more different reds used.

Love this car. It's my 5th used MB and the one I like best. It is not a 
daily driver, only gets used for trips and never for just going to town. I 
live out in the desert at the end of 3 1/2 miles of dirt and gravel road and 
takes me about 2+ hours of detailing when I get back before I can put the 
car away again.
