Clay,
It could be the fuel pressure regulator. Check to see if you have strong gasoline smell at the air filter to valve cover breather tube (that little vacuum hose on the breather tube comes from the fuel pressure regulator and is there for a reference to atmospheric pressure). Or you can pull the vacuum hose off the regulator and turn the key on a few times (or start the car) to run the pumps and see if any fuel comes out. If any does, it's bad.
On your dead battery issue, have you tried removing the fuses one at a time while watching the intesity of your test light? If you see it dim considerably, you will know where to concentrate you efforts. Like someone earlier stated, there will always be some (very small) draw (like the clock) on the battery.

Well Guys,
This will be the last time I write about my
problem, so not to take up space. The car almost wants to start on 1st. turn of
strater, but dosen't and you have to hold pedal to floor and then it starts
right away. Played with fuel dist. counter clock wise leans it out, but it idles
up and down between 750 and 900 but still running rich. Black smoke at idle and
alittle at higher rpm 2000-3000. It's like its getting too much fuel. Runs on
highway ok, but still have battery draw when tested with neg. off to a ground on
car. What would make it run so rich and cause the draw ?
Only after having fuel filter changed ? I forgot
you can smell the gas also, but can't see any leaks by engine or fuel
pumps. I know to many questions.
Someone give me some help.
