[W126 Coupe] suspension question

Rich; Is the noise a heavy rattle when hitting bumps as though something is loose in the suspension, possibly more pronounced on one side or the other? Check the Strut rod bushings. Visually, if a bushing is shot, the rubber seal will be cracked and deteriorated. You can see it at the back of the wheel well with the wheels turned to lock.
With the wheels off the ground, try to force the bushing to visibly move with a pry-bar. If you can, it's for the scrapheap.

I'm hearing a bub-bub type sound from the front end of my 83 300 SD when traveling over bumps. Is this indicative of worn ball joint or control arm bushing?
