[W126 Coupe] AMG on Track

Bruce - please tell me that you're not saying that I should use the $62/L
fluid for the flush?? Do you know of anything else?

I'm beginning to think that I should rebuild the calipers as well as put in
a new master cylinder since that will result in a completely empty system,
therefore clean enough for the SRF.

Later,

Mike R.

With SRF, you have to COMPLETELY flush the system...any other fluid, and
especially moisture (it's not hydroscopic) will contaminate it and lower the
boiling point dramatically. Ask me how I know. :)

That is quite a pretty penny for fluid.. I think I'll order some but keep it
on the shelf (cool/dry shelf) until I run on track next time...

Also, as mentioned on the forums I do plan on running ducting to help keep
the bits cool(er)..

Mike, if you replace the master you can bench bleed it and start fresh in
the reservoir.. You'll know you have the Castrol all the way through when
the colour changes:)

I have two cans of Castrol SRF coming, ordered them a couple of days ago
from
http://www.northamericanraceparts.com/site/department.cfm?id=C6190AA7-95A6-9

They're selling the SRF for $62/L.

Anyway, what can I use to flush the brake system before pouring in the
expensive stuff? Isopropyl Alcohol? I'm adding the stainless brake lines and
thinking about putting in a new master cylinder as well. Might as well get
it all done before finishing it up with expensive fluid.

Castrol SRF is the real deal. At $80 for a can, it should be!

But when you see them pour it straight from the can into a Formula 1 car,
it's fairly convincing.

Jonathan, I know I mentioned it on the forums, but really ATE Super Blue is
the budget race fluid, get some real stuff in there.

Cockpit camera is sure to follow the next go around.

Should my TT SEC be ready I'll take it on track, otherwise the lack of power
will be disappointing.

That may not Look fast, but @ the end of that straight I'm pushing 5800 in
3rd which equals right about 105mph:
http://blueridgemb.com/wp-content/mph-vs-rpm-track-rubber.jpg
(thanks Dan!).
Trust me when I say it feels fast...even my instructor w/ 12+ years in the
race seat commented as such.

At the end of the back straight I was pushing right about 140.

When I take my brakes off I'll have some pics....they are beat beyond
beat... Bad brake fade if I didn't start slowing down early on the back
straight. Boiled the fluid (fresh ATE Super blue just about every session I
went out..).

For those who are wondering, I was running slotted rotors up front, cross
drills in the rear, PBR ceramic pads all around and a 1 day old flush of ATE

super blue. Out of everything on the car my only complaint was the
brakes...

Track rubber makes these cars handle Far better then they have a right too
(Pirelli P-Zero Corsa's).

Till next time:)

Very cool Jonathan. You need a cockpit camera as well on the next run and
maybe take the SEC. This will give you time to replace the brake system you
toasted in that SEL :-) .

For those here that aren't on forums I thought y'all might get a kick out of
a video we shot this past w/e:

This was at Road Atlanta for a BMW CCA Driving school event...Lots of fun
running out the 6l 32V on track, although I don't think my brakes would
agree...

Anywho, hope y'all enjoy watching as much as I did driving:):)
