Richard,

I think either way is going to require a lot of work, unfortunately.

If you chose to go with replacing the seat, you're going to have to remove
the carpets and open up the doors to get the new wiring looms in. You may
even find that you have some incompatibility problems you can't easily
resolve.

If you decide to replace the leather, well, I paid my upholsterer $150 for
the labor to redo mine. Money well spent as far as I am concerned.
