Perhaps that varies by year then, too. My '86 560 SEC dash needed no
customization for the 4x6s, and in fact, whatever stereo store I went
to way back when had a database which suggested 4x6 euros for the
car; not knowing what the diff was and not having access to any euro
versions, I got the US versions and cut the brackets to fit; I later
saw a set of euros--they are essentially what I cut my US versions
down to --> a 4x6 speaker housing with just 4 screw holes protruding
from that. Imagine an oval measuring 4x6 with 4 little circles (for
screws) protruding about where corners would be on a similarly sized
rectangle.
