[W126 Coupe] Speakers (was: amazing properties of machine screws, and speaker size question)

Hmm, my '87 has these adapters that attach to the deck and were
holding a speaker that to me looks like 6" diameter. Not seeing 6"
as a common size at various internet retailers, and noting from
product manufacturer spec that 6 1/2" speakers require a 5 1/2"
circular cutout, I'm a little confused. I'm beginning to think
speakers are measured like lumber, where a 2x4 is never 2x4....
thanks for the tip on the 4x6 euro spec, the same shop (i'm
presuming) that put the screws to the tank fitted a plate style 4x6
to the front but it looks like 1/2 hour of grinding per side to make
it fit, which i'm trying to avoid.
