Mount a rectangular halogen bulb-style driving light shell there and mount your radar detector sensor in it.
Haha, just joking. I don't know about yours, but my car has a towing eye right behind the door, which would be kind of in the way to mount anything there. Personally, I have USED that eye in an emergency as the only really convenient tow point when I have had to move a dead car, particularly in the pouring rain. I'd be reluctant to remove it.
However, recently I saw another idea you might think about. I met someone who had a broken a hole in the grille of his relatively new Chev pickup , which HE thought had ruined the look of his truck. (I thought it was an improvement.) So he plugged it up with fake road-kill (I think it started out to be a rubber chicken, but he got carried away in an ill-advised fit of creativity).
Needless to say, this is a Chevy, and this is a Chevy-owner, so a chunk of road-kill stuck on the grille looks perfectly normal.
