[W126 Coupe] Overheat light

Hello,
 
Recent problem: After driving my 1988 560 SEC for a few miles my idiot  light 
on the dash comes on stating my car is overheating. The car doesn't appear  
to be steaming and the temp gauge is reading 90 degrees Celsius.  Any ideas  
why?  Thanks for any help.
