Hi Stephen:
I've worked for hours to remove the oxidation on my SEC air cleaner
housing using a rubbing compound and a lot of elbow grease. Then
applied several light coats and 1 heavy coat of clear engine enamel.
Spray some Mop N Glow wax on the engine in general every 6 months or so
and it'll look shiny and clean. Both efforts seem to work although if
you've missed any aluminum ox after spraying a clear coat it will
reappear in a year or so. For this reason I chose to do the valve
covers differently.
On the cylinder head covers (valve covers) I just had them powder coated
($40-50 for the set) and I apply a wax coat every now and again and
forgetaboutem. It's that air cleaner I bet that looks really nasty.
Powder coat it or do the elbow grease routine with rubbing compound.
That's about all I can suggest.
Dick
