On my car there is a number plate on the upper radiator support, just
above the electric fan (see attached).
As best I can tell, the "587M" on mine is the exterior paint color
<http://landiss.com/paintcodes.htm>, I've heard the "M" is the paint
manufacturer. The "267" appears to be my interior code. If you can
locate the original Vehicle Data Card it should be item 30.
Check the rest of the codes on that plate at
<http://www.bekkoame.ne.jp/%7Emtor/mbcodedsc.html> and see if any of
them sound like blue upholstery. Also check
<http://www.mbspares.com.au/default.asp?d=18018> and
<http://www.amcon-luxled.com/mbcar/index.html>. Don't be at all
surprised that some of the data conflicts. The codes changed from time
to time! You just have to pick what seems most likely.
If no luck, try leaving a friendly note and your VIN at
<http://www.mbusa.com/heritage/contact-classic-center.do> and see if
they can help.
If the car is very old the upholstery will no longer be the same color
anyway. Take a small sample from somewhere (I sent Leatherique the cover
for my rear ashtray) and just let them match it.
