[W126 Coupe] Dead Pedal

Greetings, all--------
 
The driver's side dead pedal has broken on both our SECs.  That's  left-hand 
drive cars (USA).  I checked the archives and found only two  threads, in 2002 
and 2005.  Have many others had this problem?  Has  anybody constructed a 
clone of fiberglass, to prevent a reoccurrence?
