Check TireRack's web site. They rate the tires they sell and have customer comments on them as well. That being said, I went with General Exclaim 245/45/17 WR on my 3 pc. AMGs. They were rated better than the Kumho tires and were about the same price. I figure that why pay the high price of Michelin Pilots when most of the high-speed rated tires are only going to last around 20k due to the soft compounds. I bought the 4 Generals for just a little more than the cost of one Pilot.

Subject: [W126 Coupe] bigger tires

Hi gang,

?

I'm looking for a new set of shoes for the SEC.? I have the staggered 18" setup and have run Dunlop SP9000's in the past and was very happy with them.? To try and save some money, I tried the Kumho Ecsta's and hate them - they stink in the cold and wet in my opinion.? So, I'm looking to see what everyone else running the larger wheel setup is using for tires, how much they paid, how happy they are, etc.? I want something that will grip well in cold and rain since I'm in the Northeast part of the country where in November the ground is quite cold.? With the Kumho's the rear end slides around at that time of year, and rain isn't much better (even when tires were brand new!).? Even almost bald, the SP9000's gripped well in all conditions.? Before I just go buy the again, thought I'd see if there were any recommendations...

?

Thanks!
