Fitted a light racing drivers seat (legal) and took out original passenger seat and fitted the one from my donor car which got the full diet treatment.
No electric motors, no sliding track & no head rest which 1/2'd the weight. Sits a bit low & funny but who cares - its an original seat!
Not allowed to remove glass but could take out rear window motors and seat belt motors.
This is my show car which is only being raced temporarily.
Next year sees 'the beast' which is being lightened to every bit possible within the regulations and will have the 560 motor. That car will be a strictly "only for racing" machine & the white car goes back to being a stock standard docile road car.Never been raced or rallied and only used to go to church on Sundays - or so the used car dealer will tell you!

Can you carry a passenger while on the track?? The front seats are VERY heavy but the backs are amazingly light. I'd check into adding two front racing seats and let the officials know that the car will still have a full interior and you're going to be safer! Bet you could loose a couple of hundred pounds with lighter racing front buckets.
Will they let you run Plexiglas windows? Glass is not only heavy, it's at the top half of the car and puts the weight in the worst location. Side windows should be easy to do. You don't need the electric motors for the back window lifts and you don't need the seat belt extender mechanisms.

Very strict. Got to be street legal with all original trim in place.
Without doubt the best way to increase performance.

Can you reduce any weight? How strict are they on that?

I didn't put my car on a dyno to test it, but Iridian plugs seemed to me to make it more lively. Not expensive but every little bit helps - I think new top end Mercs have them.
You can tweak the fuel injection computer but I guess you've already been there.
Robert
The diff change and semi-slick tyres made a big difference (5 secs per lap improvement)
The 500SEC was very competitive with a 7th in race 1 & a 4th in race 2 giving a race aggregate of 4th overall for the day. (36 entries)
Very satisfied with the days work but I need another second or 2 to really stick it to the Porsches!
