[W126 Coupe] Best way to preserve wood trim?

Nothing one can do outside of avoiding direct sunlight, & storing in a
climate controlled garage. I would recommend you get a window shade for
anytime you have to park outside.

There's no magic product that will add pliability to polyurethane
coatings that I know of thus as they expand/contract cracks are bound to
appear.

My advise, but new while it's still available and store it away some
place cool in your house for future use.

Finding a re-finisher that can do good work is difficult @ best.
