Well, I was actually quite overwhelmed with the response I got from you guys
and thanks for that (especially the comments from you Dick)

I have tracked down the leak and think I have sorted it. The sunroof really
doesn't want to slide back (I used to have a 500sec and in that the slide
roof control tilted up to tilt and down to close, and slid back and forth to
retract and close the slide roof, but on the 560 the control tilts up and
down, but won't slide back and forwards, thus the roof won't retract.
Normal, or siezed?) and wasn't showing signs of leaking so I investigated
the drains either side of the windscreen.

I found that the the passenger side drain tray was rotted quite badly, and
upon testing the drain tube was intact and fine. So, I sealed the tray and
re-assembled the front end, and think we're in business. only problem is I
think the water has shorted the electrics in the footwell, as if I leave the
key in the ignition and don't start the engine the battery runs flat very
quickly (20 mins!).

Now, all that's left for me to do is sort that (?!) and - having cleaned the
entirety of the interior appart from the roof - dry out the car and go
through the remove and re-line the headliner procedure on mbcoupes.com to
complete the job.

Thanks again for your help, and I look forward to any advice or picking your
brains in the future1

Regards,

Brad.
