Nope.  The 420 replaced the 380 late in 1985 (with the 1986 model).  But the 560 did not replace the 500.  
 
The 500SEC was produced throughout all SEC production years.  The 560 production started late '85 also, and the 500 was simply not imported to North America after '85.

I think in 1986 Mercedes change the models from 500 to 560.
