[W126 Coupe] 500 Transmission

I am finally going to have to replace the tranny on my 84 500 SEC.( It  
lasted quite a while Thomas) I might rebuild it, buy an Adsit or maybe even  a good 
used one if available. Are there a variety of transmissions that will  work? 
Would one from a later model 560 be better? It is a USA model.  Thanks, Scott
