The rear parcel shelf from an SEL or SDL will not fit into the SD or SE.  I had already checked with my mechanics.  You would need to look for a rear parcel shelf from a later model SE or SD to fit into your '84 300SD.

as you know the rear hat tray has space for a small speaker. The max. size is 
4x6.

Does the hat tray from a later 
model, like a 1987 SEL fit my 1984 300 SD and has this 1987 SEL hat tray room 
for a larger, say 6 1/2 " speaker?
