Clay:

Steve Lemberg and Carl of BergWerks told me of one SEC where they did
successfully grind away just enough of the hub material to get proper
fitment of the H&R spacer on the front wheels. Seems it took two people
to do the job. One to turn the rotor while the other finessed the die
grinder to get an even cut all the way round the hub. You just have
that small area at the very base of the hub to contend with where the
H&R centering ring sits on the spacer. Please be careful not to remove
too much in any one area of the hub or you could end up with an out of
balance off centered installation.

I chose not to try this on my SEC where 1. the safety issues are real
and serious and 2. at a future date I figured I might come across a set
of direct bolt-up rims that did not require the spacer but, did require
the proper diameter of the original hub. Turns out that I did happen to
find a pristine set of direct bolt-ups. You should try hailing Steve
Lemberg for further detail. I do not have his contact info synced-up
with this laptop.

Anyway, I've said all I can on this subject. Good luck in whatever you
decide to do.

Dick
