[W126 Coupe] Interesting event

Doing the math the 155 in top gear is the theoretical top speed at red
line (look at your tach at 77 MPH). Depending on the aerodynamics you
need ~350HP to get to 155.
The stock US 560 should be good to get ~ 130-140 MPH.
An update on the Supercharged 560SEC Project:
With ~ 6 weeks and 1,000 miles on it now it has performed flawlessly. I
do look forward to finding some Tri-Y's (if anyone knows where some are
laying around). I did experience some funny shifts on occasion (at high
RPM), but I believe it's tranny related - I may need a rebuild it (has
135K miles) since I am now pushing a lot more torque through the old
dog. Normal to, let's call it "spirited" driving (not planting the red
line), the motor and tranny love the setup. The bottom end response is
much more crisp and has dramatically more torque and the power band is
much wider, pulling right into the red line if you are not careful.
Over the course of the 1000 miles I have had the pleasure to smoke a few
new "sports cars" to the dismay of the overly confident drivers who
initiated the challenge. The typical end response was the ol' in
deer-headlight gaze as they uttered the words "whoa.what you got in
there?". It's really rather amusing, especially when the guys are so
embarrassed they don't look back at you at the next light. It's got to
hurt the ego.
Unfortunately I had to temporarily swap looks for power (unheard-of!).
After the many, many emails to my first posting where I first got the
setup performing, I got an email from Sam Sisic who had those sweet-euro
headlights. After he educated me I quickly went on a search and found a
beautiful used pair - arrived last week-end - look like new & what a
difference - looks like a whole new car without those faded and cracked
rims. During installation however, I realized they are wider and deeper
than the US lights and conflicted with the supercharger pulley.
So over the course of the next few weeks I will be remaking the brackets
to rotate the unit. I will also be going to a cogged belt since I did
experience belt slippage with the V-belt. So stay tuned, as soon as it
warms up a bit I should have this done and will reply to all those who
contacted me regarding the how-to plans.
I haven't tried it, but with the Supercharger at 7 PSI, I believe the
560 will have the HP to get to that 4th gear red line. My license has
been clean for 20 years, so I won't be the one trying it, but would love
to hear from someone who would. Stay tuned!

What are you driving, a 560SEC?
I wonder how fast I could get my 380SEC up too... I just had wheels
balanced and ball joints replaced, along with the engine mounts, and it
drives far better than it did when I bought it.

Considering that this was in the US, I was thinking that he was going

I AM talking MPH.
I was up around 120mph (193kph).
The Mini and the Maserati were at around 240 kph, but I believe a stock
Mini would leave the ground at that speed.
This was a new Mini. Looked like it had 20 inch wheels, too.
There is a dealer of Italian cars in Watertown, MA., close to where we
were.
