Axel, actually, it's an EL sheet on mine, provides a much more even a
brighter effect.

The light source is a simple LED with a blue plastic piece that it shines
through.
 
If you can identify the LED, you  can probably find a replacement at your
local Radio Shack.

Several Years ago a few of us purchased some door sills with Mercedes Benz

Written on the sill with a blue light back ground. My blue light has burned
out.

Does someone have a contact on a replacement?
