[W126 Coupe] headlight bulb replacement

Holiday Greetings to all. It has been a long time since I have posted but I
have been watching the emails. I finally have a few days off from work and
am not traveling so I can do the things that need to be handled. A few days
ago the driver's side low beam went out and I am trying to remove the bulb
but it won't come out. I see a large gray, knurled knob that I can't turn as
it is seriously stuck. Does this need to be loosened to disengage the bulb?
I am assuming it is a counterclockwise rotation to remove it. If not, how do
I remove the bulb?
