Hi guys I have a question about the cats and the resonators on my car. Im
gona go to the muffler shop in a few days to get the resonators taken off
my car. What I wanted to know is can I get better sound by having the cats
removed and keeping the resonators or keeping the cats and removing the
resonators? Oh and I have a 84 Euro 500SEC so the cats where put on when
it came to the US they look more like they belong on a ford or gm than a
Mercedes.

Thanks for the Help,

The cats have very little effect on the sound. Their job is to scrub the
exhaust gas of most unwanted emissions.
In order to do that scrubbing, they choke the exhaust flow and provide a
small amount of noise muffling but the primary noise reduction parts are
the muffler and resonator.
